Deep Freeze

I shouldn't watch The Weather Channel! They have me worried. I have every candle, flashlight, battery, and match in the house out on the kitchen table. I have 8 gallons of water fixed. I made two large pizzas so we can have food other than PBJ if the power goes out. We dug around until we found Ben's phone car charger. I don't have one. It's ok. I also have a lot of PBJ. We have tested our gas logs. I have 4 and 1/2 cans of formula.

I used to want to be a meteorologist. I used to watch the weather out at my Big Mama's house and we would always talk about the pretty weather lady's wardrobe. I can remember being in the 6th grade and a hurricane coming in the gulf. I had a friend over to spend the night and I seriously wanted to stay up all night and watch the hurricane coverage on TV. She didn't really get it...

When a tornado hit very close to my hometown in 1997, I developed a phobia of tornadoes. It was an F5 and it destroyed my dad's office. Ben and I were in the area it hit just 30 minutes before it touched down. We had no idea it was coming. I had a piano competition that morning and he was with me. Afterwards, we went to my house. As soon as we walked in the door, the phone rang with the news. We went with my mom and dad to help with clean up. Oh, and there was the time when I was in probably 6th grade that we had "straight line winds" that knocked over about 32 or more trees in my yard. We weren't home.

Anyway, I have always been interested in weather but I have come to really respect it and take it seriously. I am not going to work tomorrow, even if they don't cancel school. Oh, but they will. On another note, because of this, we will likely have to go to school the Monday and Tuesday of spring break AND have days added on at the end of the year. Genius.

  1. I totally understand the weather thing. I have always loved to watch the weather channel and see what mother nature can do. I will pray that you guys do not loose power and get to instead spend the winter storm snuggled up watching movies!

  2. I told my kids that they would probably end 5th grade on August 15th and be 6th graders on August 18th. Hope I am wrong! You guys stay all snuggly!
